Welcome to Moria!

Khazad-dûm, though more commonly known as Moria, is home to a vast mine and beautiful culture. Though abandoned for decades, the majesty of this place can still be seen today through the beautiful architecture and riches. Make sure to check out the Mines of Moria, as it is one of Moria's most infamous attractions. Be careful, as Moria isn't completely uninhabited. Enjoy your visit! We hope to see you again.

Famous Inhabitants and Visitors

Name Age About Them
Durin 2,395 years Durin first discovered Moria and established a city there, where a civilization would soon florish. Durin was later killed by the Balrog after digging too deep for Mithril. Durin was reincarnated seven times, being killed several times by the Balrog, earning it the name "Durin's Bane". It was only Durin VII that was able to take back Moria. He established a civilization once again and retained control until Dwarves died out altogether.
The Balrog Older than the creation of Arda Though its history is mostly unknown, it became relevant when awakened by the dwarves of Khazad-dûm. After killing the dawrves that resided in Khazad-dûm, the Balrog remained in Moria. It wasn't until the Fellowship of the Ring traveled through Moria that it was killed.
Gandalf the White 24,000 years Gandalf the Grey assisted the Fellowship of the Ring in crossing though Moria, later killed in fighting the Balrog. Gandalf was later ressurected and became Gandalf the White.
Frodo Baggins 50 years Frodo journeyed through Moria when he was traveling as a part of The Fellowship of the Ring and was later attacked by the Balrog. He was able to escape and continue his journey to destroy the One Ring.

Geography

Moria is located below the three peaks of the Misty Mountains, Celebdil, Caradhras, and Fanuidhol. To enter into the mines, one must speak friend and enter into the Doors of Durin.
