Lizzo, also known as Melissa Viviane Jefferson, was always into music. ever since she as a kid, Lizzo has been surrounded by many genres of music. Until the age of 9, Lizzo lived in Detroit. Here, she was exposed to a gospel soul genre, whuch is a distinct and lovly type of music. After age 9, she moved to Housten Texas, where many varities of southern music were emerging. One these "varities" include the progressive R&B, like the band Destiny's Child, who were bringing the city and modern music to new heights. Actually, it was a Destiny's Child performance that Lizzo stumbled upon in 5th grade that inspired her to truly get involved in music.
Lizzo is a advocate for equality. Amoungst many other things, Lizzo focuses on body positivity and has priortized women's empowerment. Lizzo constantly empowers women with her uplifting and encourging songs. Her songs also target feminism, body positivity, and self-love. All of these traits present in her songs speak louder truths than any mouth and touch people through their hearts.
