Welcome to Bikini Bottom

Located in the Pacific Ocean, beneath Bikini Atoll in the Marshall Islands, Bikini Bottom is home to many prominent faces and figures. Most notably, this colorful city is known for its lively presence within the Sea. After all, it is the most populated city in all of the Sea.

History

Bikini Bottom was created when a nuclear bomb on Bikini Atoll spread debris everywhere in the ocean. Since then, the city has gone through multiple phases during its development.

Era Description
Basic Prehistoric Era The sponge and starfish had no language of any kind, did not know how to start a fire, and did not know anything of tool-making until taught how to make jellyfish nets by Squidward
Advanced Prehistoric Era spoke a language, lived in (primitive) houses, owned and used weapons, and discovered fire during the course of the episode, already owned Prehistoric Gary, indicating that animal domestication had already taken place
Medieval Times The totalitarian sorcerer Planktonamor reigned briefly, until SpongeBob and Patrick were sent by King Krabs to rescue his daughter Princess Pearl, slay the Dragon Jellyfish, and restore the Krabs monarchy
Western Times Dead Eye Plankton ruled and practically owned the Old West Bikini Bottom entire town. Plankton owned every business except for one during this reign of terror. Cacti and the skulls of dead animals could be seen in most parts. Seahorses and coffins were used for transportation
Early Modern Bikini Bottom When Man Ray tried to terrorize the town, two young superheros named Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy came to stop him. The two heroes were most beloved from that day forth, even starring in their own TV show, when the technology was invented
Modern Bikini Bottom Thriving city with healthy inhabitants

Geography

Bikini Bottom's ecosystem consists of mountains, dense forests, lakes, lagoons, caves, grasslands, reefs, and rivers- many of which serve as attractions to the locals. Also native to the city are a certain range of wildlife such as grass, seaweed, and coral, and some fauna including jellyfish, worms, snails, clams, scallops, and urchins
The city is divided by its main road, Conch Street, which runs from downtown, past the homes of SpongeBob, Squidward, and Patrick, through the Krusty Krab restaurant, Chum Bucket, and the Reef Cinema.
