Location: Asgard is a city on a floating piece of land in outer space, and is considered its own realm.

The History of Asgard

Asgard is one of the 9 realms of Yggdrasil, the tree-like cosmic link that connects the 9 realms together. It is a small, planetary like body with gravity similar to earth. Asgard's history dates back to the reign of Bor, a previous Asgardian king. Throughout the nine realms, Asgard is known for its peace-keeping and this first recgonized instance of peace-keeping was when Bor intervened in the fight agaisnt the Dark Elves and forced their armies to retreat from attempting to cast the universe in darkness. After Bor, his son, Odin became king, and Odin and his first born, Hela, set off on a conquest and turned Asgard into a feared empire. However, after realizing Hela was becoming consumed by bloodlust, Odin changed his war-like philosphy and removed all evidence of their bloody conquests from Asgardian history. The next major event in Asgardian history was the war between Asgard and Jotunheim, the frostgiants. Asgard was ultimately victorius over the frostgiants, and the son of Laufey, the ruler of the frostgiants was brought back to Asgard after being "saved" by Odin and raised as Thor's younger brother, Loki. Thor and Loki were the two princes of Asgard for a long time, until Thor was about to take over as king, and Loki sabotaged the coranation by allowing frostgiants into Asgard. Ultimately, Thor was able to save Asgard from the invading frostgiants but was forced to fight Loki in the process, and he had seemingly died. Some time later, Asgard again fought with the dark eleves, and this time, Thor and Loki worked together to defeat them with Jane Foster, and Asgard was safe, however their Queen was killed in the process, and Loki faked his death again. It wasnt until Ragnarok that another major event occured. After the fight with the dark elves, Loki bewitched Odin and took his place as King of Asgard, while Odin was sent to earth with no memories. It wasnt long until Thor realized this and forced Loki to help him find their father, but when they got there, Odin explained that he was ready to pass on from this world. Soon after Odin's death., Hela had returned and sought revenge and took over Asgard, and Thor and Loki were forced to cause its destruction in order to defeat her. After the destruction of Asgard, the fleeing population were attacked by Thanos, and Loki was actually killed by Thanos. After this, Asgard was rebuilt on Earth by the surviors of the attakcs and named New Asgard and is now ruled over by Valkyrie, who was named the new King by Thor.
